Medical device indicated for the treatment of chronic constipation.
Macrostip Oral Solution by Pharmaline is a medical device based on Macrogol 4000 indicated for the treatment of chronic constipation, for the treatment of fecal impaction and for the treatment of constipation with episodic or chronic colic. It is a product with laxative action that, thanks to the osmotic mechanism, regulates intestinal functions. It is not absorbed or fermented in the intestine, does not irritate the mucosa and is eliminated in the feces in an unchanged form. Thanks to its affinity for water, it softens the stool, facilitating evacuation.
Macrogol 4000 125 g
Purified water, citric acid, flavoring, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, sucralose.
Gluten, Lactose and Sugar Free.
Dissolve the contents in a 150 ml or 50 ml glass (for infants aged 6 months and 1 year) with water, fruit juice, or tea. Drink the reconstituted solution. After use, rinse the measuring cup with hot water and do not put it back in the box until it is completely dry.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking the product. Use in children under 12 years of age should preferably take place under medical supervision. Do not use Macrostip oral solution for more than 30 consecutive days. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not use the medical device after the expiry date. Do not use if the package is damaged. Treatment of fecal impaction requires prior medical advice.
Do not take Macrostip oral solution in case of known hypersensitivity to the raw materials, gastrointestinal perforation and/or obstruction, known gastric or intestinal lesions, serious inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and toxic megacolon.
There are no known interactions with drugs, but it is advisable to take the product at least 2 hours after taking orally administered drugs, since the osmotic power of macrogol and the induced increase in gastrointestinal transit speed may negatively affect their action. However, consult your doctor before taking Macrostip® oral solution if you are taking other therapies. Macrostip oral solution may potentially interact if used with starch-based food thickeners. The macrogol ingredient counteracts the thickening effect of starch, thus liquefying preparations that must remain thick for people with swallowing problems.
Macrostip oral solution is usually well tolerated because its mechanism of action is physical/mechanical and does not depend on systemic absorption. When taking it, side effects such as indigestion, stomach pain or rumbling, bloating, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, anal irritation, and mild diarrhea may occur. These effects improve by reducing the dose. In case of allergic reactions, stop taking it and contact your doctor. If you experience any side effects, inform your doctor or pharmacist.
The expiry date is indicated on the packaging and on the label; it refers to the product in its intact packaging, stored correctly. Do not use after this date or if the package is opened or damaged. Store the device tightly closed in a cool, dry place, away from light and heat. Use Macrostip® oral solution within 3 months of opening.
