Occasional Treatment of Constipation
Indications
Constipation.
Contraindications
Children under 3 years of age, hypersensitivity to the components, intestinal obstruction or stenosis, intestinal atony, chronic inflammatory bowel disease, appendicitis, abdominal pain of unknown origin, nausea, vomiting, gastroenteritis, rectal bleeding, dehydration. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Dosage
Adults: 1-2 tablets or 5-10 drops, after the evening meal. Children over 3 years of age: 1/2-1 tablet or 2-5 drops, after the evening meal. The tablets should be chewed before swallowing.
Interactions
Hypokalemia increases the action of cardiac glycosides and interferes with the action of antiarrhythmic drugs. Concomitant use of diuretics, corticosteroids, amphotericin B, or even licorice may increase potassium loss. Milk or antacids alter the effect of the laxative. By accelerating the transit of intestinal contents, it can interfere with the absorption of drugs: it is advisable to leave an interval of at least 2 hours between taking the laxative and that of other oral medications.
Side Effects
Isolated cramping pain, abdominal colic.
