Medical device with laxative action based on Macrogol 3350 with simethicone for the treatment of constipation and elimination of intestinal gas
Indications
Medical device indicated for the symptomatic treatment of constipation, promotes peristalsis, helping to have adequate intestinal evacuation, thus counteracting constipation and preventing the formation of fecal impactions. It also facilitates the elimination of intestinal gas reducing the sensation of bloating and abdominal distension. Macrogol is an inert, water-soluble polymer with a high molecular weight that has the ability to bind to the water used for ingestion, retaining it in the stool. It determines rehydration and softening of the fecal mass and facilitates its evacuation. It accelerates intestinal transit by promoting peristalsis. It is not absorbed or metabolized in the gastrointestinal tract and does not cause fluid or electrolyte imbalances when taken with the indicated dose of liquid. Simethicone is a substance that has the ability to reduce the surface tension of gas bubbles present in the gastrointestinal tract, facilitating their expulsion.
Composition
Macrogol, silicon dioxide, simethicone, sucralose. Gluten-free.
Directions for use and Dosage
Use the measuring spoon contained in the package to measure the powder: fill it level and not pressed, then remove the excess quantity of product
Children aged between 6 months and 12 years (adults/children ≤43 Kg)
- from 6-10 Kg: 1 level measuring spoon per day;
- from 10-15 Kg: 1-2 level measuring spoons per day;
- from 16-20 Kg: 2-3 level measuring spoons per day;
- from 21-43 Kg: 3-4 level measuring spoons per day.
The dose must be increased or decreased, depending on the individual response to the treatment, to allow regular evacuation of soft stools. The maximum dose required does not normally exceed 4 scoops per day. Dissolve the powder in water or other liquid (50 ml for each scoop) and take immediately. It is recommended to administer the product in the morning if you need to take 1 scoop per day. For larger doses, divide the intake between morning and evening.
Adults and children over 12 years of age (>43 kg)
- 2 to 10 level scoops per day;

Warnings
Administration to children must be carried out under the direct supervision of an adult. As a precaution, consult your doctor before use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and in pediatric age. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package. Do not use if the package is opened or damaged. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose. Keep the product or the resulting solution out of the reach of children. If no improvement is noted after 7 days of treatment, it is advisable to consult your doctor. The product may reduce the residence time in the intestine and therefore the absorption of oral medications. It is therefore advisable to consult your doctor if taking oral medications at the same time, which must in any case be administered at least 2 hours apart. In case of adverse reactions, even if different from those listed, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor. In patients with dysphagia taking starch-based thickeners, possible interactions with macrogol should be considered, as it may reduce the thickening effect.
Contraindications
Do not take in case of known hypersensitivity to macrogol or other components, intestinal perforation, obstruction or stenosis, paralytic ileus, severe inflammatory diseases of the intestinal tract such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and toxic megacolon. The use of laxatives is contraindicated in cases of acute or unknown abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, rectal bleeding of unknown origin, and in cases of severe dehydration.
Side effects
Some gastrointestinal disorders may occur (stomach ache, flatulence, abdominal swelling, nausea, and fecal incontinence). Diarrhea is a secondary effect of taking excessive doses of Dicopeg esse and can be avoided by reducing the dose. Cases of hypersensitivity reactions (skin rash) have been reported rarely following the use of products containing macrogol. In such cases, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, away from light and heat sources. The expiry date indicated refers to the product when stored correctly in its intact packaging. Once opened, the product has a shelf life of 3 months.
