Product Description

A laxative product based on Macrogol 3350 with simethicone, useful for treating constipation and eliminating intestinal gas.

Indications

Agpeg esse is a medical device indicated for the symptomatic treatment of constipation. It promotes peristalsis, helping to have adequate intestinal evacuation, thus counteracting constipation and preventing the formation of fecal impactions. It also facilitates the elimination of intestinal gas, reducing the sensation of bloating and abdominal distension. Macrogol is an inert, water-soluble polymer with a high molecular weight that has the ability to bind to the water used for ingestion, retaining it in the stool. It causes rehydration and softening of the fecal mass and facilitates evacuation. It accelerates intestinal transit by promoting peristalsis. It is not absorbed or metabolized in the gastrointestinal tract and does not lead to fluid or electrolyte imbalances if taken with the indicated dose of liquid. Simethicone is a substance that has the ability to reduce the surface tension of gas bubbles present in the gastrointestinal tract, facilitating their expulsion.

Directions for use and dosage

Use the measuring cup contained in the package to measure the powder: fill it level and not pressed, then remove the excess product with the blade of a knife.

Children aged between 6 months and 12 years (adults/children <43 kg):

• from 6-10 kg: 1 level measuring cup per day
• from 10-15 kg: 1-2 level measuring cups per day
• 16-20 kg: 2-3 level scoops per day
• 21-43 kg: 3-4 level scoops per day

The dose should be increased or decreased, depending on the individual response to treatment, to allow regular evacuation of soft stools. The maximum dose required does not normally exceed 4 scoops per day. Dissolve the powder in water or other liquid (50 ml per scoop) and take immediately. It is recommended to administer the product in the morning if you need to take 1 scoop per day. For larger doses, divide the intake between morning and evening.

Adults and children over 12 years of age (> 43 kg):

• 2 to 10 level scoops per day

The dose should be increased or decreased, depending on the individual response to treatment, to allow regular evacuation of soft stools. The maximum dose required does not normally exceed 10 scoops per day. Dissolve the powder in water or other liquid (50 ml for each scoop) and take immediately. It is recommended to administer the product in the morning if the minimum dose (2 scoops per day) is required. For larger doses, divide the intake between morning and evening.

Warnings

It is recommended to use the product in pediatric age after consulting a doctor. Administration in children must be carried out under the direct supervision of an adult. Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package. Do not use if the package is opened or damaged. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose. Keep the product or the resulting solution out of the reach of children. If no improvement is noted after 7 days of treatment, consult your doctor. The product may reduce the time spent in the intestine and therefore the absorption of oral medications. Therefore, consult your doctor if you are taking oral medications at the same time, which should always be administered at least 2 hours apart. In case of adverse reactions, even if different from those listed, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor.

Contraindications

Do not take Agpeg esse in case of known hypersensitivity to macrogol or other components, perforation, obstruction or intestinal stenosis, paralytic ileus, severe inflammatory diseases of the intestinal tract such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and toxic megacolon. The use of laxatives is contraindicated in case of acute or unknown abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, rectal bleeding of unknown origin and in case of severe dehydration.

Side effects

Some gastrointestinal disorders may occur (stomach ache, flatulence, abdominal bloating, nausea and fecal incontinence). Diarrhea is a secondary effect of taking excessive doses of Agpeg esse and can be avoided by reducing the dose. Cases of hypersensitivity reactions (skin rash) have been reported rarely following the use of products containing macrogol. If this occurs, discontinue use and consult your doctor.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, away from light and heat sources. The expiration date indicated refers to the product stored correctly in its intact packaging. Once opened, the product has a shelf life of 3 months.
