Colors of Life Vitamin D3 2000 IU is a high-dose vitamin D supplement in tablet form (2000 IU / 50 µg).
One dose (1 tablet) provides 2000 International Units of Vitamin D3.
Vitamin D3 intake is essential for the health of our body, particularly of teeth, bones, and the nervous system.
Dietary sources of vitamin D are limited: mainly fish rich in Omega-3, eggs, meat, milk, and dairy products.
It is also present, but in smaller quantities, in some plant sources (mushrooms, yeasts).
It is also naturally synthesized in our body, specifically in the epidermis: with the action of light Ultraviolet radiation converts 7-dehydrocholesterol (provitamin D3) into previtamin D3, followed by thermal isomerization to generate vitamin D3.
Researchers estimate that a deficiency of this nutrient is easily found in the adult population, but especially in the elderly.
Supplementation is therefore advisable, especially during those months of the year when sun exposure is minimal, and in the case of an unbalanced diet, or a vegan diet, with minimal consumption of animal products.
