Characteristics

Food supplement that facilitates intestinal transit and selectively stimulates the probiotic bacterial flora, complementing the action with fluid extracts of aloe, slippery elm, and dandelion. The product does not contain gluten. With sweetener.

Melafibre contains:

• Lactulose, a disaccharide not absorbed by the upper intestine; it is degraded by colon bacteria with the production of substances, mainly organic acids (lactic acid, short-chain fatty acids), which promote an increase in osmotic pressure in the intestinal lumen at the colon level. There is a consequent attraction of water, so the contents present in the intestine remain soft and their transit until evacuation is facilitated. Therefore, the mechanism of lactulose consists in increasing the fecal mass, making it softer and stimulating peristalsis.       
• Fructo-oligosaccharides which have a selective stimulating action on probiotic bacteria. In fact, the mechanism of action of FOS is to pass unchanged through the stomach and upper intestine, to reach the large intestine where they become nourishment for the development of the bacterial flora beneficial to the body, especially bifidobacteria. They can also reduce fecal pH, toxic metabolites, cholesterol and triglycerides present in the serum level.       
• Inulin, a soluble fiber found in some plants, such as dandelion. Its usefulness as a probiotic has been highlighted, stimulating the intestinal growth of bifidobacteria and lactobacilli useful for normal intestinal functioning, while reducing that of Gram+ and Cocci.      
•  Aloe leaf extract, which contains polysaccharides, glucogalactomannan and acemannan and has always been used for its demulcent, emollient and immunostimulant properties.       
• Elm, used as a demulcent also at the gastrointestinal level. It soothes irritation, colic and spasms and is helpful in almost all colon problems: constipation, diverticulitis, irritable bowel syndrome and ulcerative colitis. It mainly contains mucilage and starch.       
• Dandelion, rich in sesquiterpenes, triterpenes and polysaccharides and is widely used for its choleretic, cholagogue and laxative properties.

Water; fructooligosaccharides; lactulose; inulin; glycerin; dandelion fluid extract; aloe fluid extract (leaves); slippery elm fluid extract; citric acid; sucralose; sodium saccharinate; methylparaben; potassium sorbate; polysorbate 20; pyridoxine (vitamin B6); thiamine (vitamin B1); flavoring.

Directions for use

For best results, we recommend taking one 15 ml measuring spoon in the evening, unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor. The product can be taken concentrated or diluted in water. Shake well before use.

Warnings

Pregnant or breastfeeding women and children are advised to consult their doctor. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Keep out of reach of children under three years of age. Supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet. Dietary supplementation with fiber may be contraindicated in certain pathological situations, such as in particular gastrointestinal conditions, including suspected or present intestinal obstruction or abnormal narrowing of the gastrointestinal tract (occlusive and sub-occlusive syndromes). Dietary supplementation with fiber may interfere with the absorption of some medications; therefore, medical advice is required.
