Optim PropioniBacter is a food supplement with lactic acid bacteria.

Propionibacterium freudenreichii is a well-known lactic acid bacteria. It is traditionally involved in the maturation of Swiss-style cheeses and contributes to the formation of the "eyes" of these cheeses.

Propionibacterium freudenreichii sp. shermanii is a so-called propionic bacterium because it is involved in the production of propionic acid (or propionate) in the intestine, a short-chain fatty acid.
