Veterinary drug for the treatment of mixed infestations caused by nematodes and tapeworms in dogs.
Indications
Panadron Plus from Msd Animal Health is a veterinary drug for dogs for the treatment of mixed infestations caused by nematodes and tapeworms of the following species:
Nematodes:
- Roundworms: Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina (adult and immature forms).
- Hookworms: Uncinaria stenocephala and Ancylostoma caninum (adults).
- Whipworms: Trichuris vulpis (adults).
Tapes:
- Tapeworms: Echinococcus spp. (E. granulosus, E. multilocularis), Taenia spp. (T. hydatigena, T. pisiformis, T. taeniformis) and Dipylidium caninum (adult and immature forms).
Composition
One pork-flavored, palatable tablet contains 50 mg praziquantel, 50 mg pyrantel (equivalent to 144 mg pyrantel embonate) and 150 mg febantel.
Directions for use and Dosage
For single oral administration.
For dosages, follow the following indications: 15 mg/kg of body weight for febantel, 5 mg/kg for pyrantel (equivalent to 14.4 mg pyrantel embonate) and 5 mg/kg for praziquantel. 1 tablet per 10 kg of body weight. The tablets can be administered directly to the dog or hidden in food. A fasting period is not required before or after treatment.

If there is a risk of reinfestation, consult a veterinarian for advice on the need and frequency of further administrations.
Warnings
Do not administer at the same time as piperazine compounds as they may cause serious damage to the liver. The anthelmintic effects of pyrantel and piperazine may be antagonized. Tapeworm infestation will certainly recur if control measures are not implemented on intermediate hosts, such as fleas, mice, etc. Tapeworm infestation is unlikely in puppies under 6 weeks of age. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients. Teratogenic effects attributed to high doses of febantel have been reported in sheep and mice. No studies have been performed in dogs during the first part of pregnancy. Use of the product during pregnancy should be subject to a risk/benefit assessment by the responsible veterinarian. It is recommended not to use the product in dogs during the first 4 weeks of pregnancy. Do not exceed the recommended dose when treating pregnant bitches.
Warnings for the user
In case of accidental ingestion, seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet. In compliance with hygiene rules, wash your hands after administering the tablets directly to the dog or adding them to its food. For veterinary use only.
Contraindications
Do not administer piperazine compounds simultaneously, as the anthelmintic effects of pyrantel and piperazine may be antagonized. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients.
Adverse reactions
None known. If serious adverse reactions or other reactions not mentioned in this leaflet occur, please inform your veterinarian.
