Duelmint 20 by Ati is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal nematode and cestode infections in dogs and cats. Cestodes: tapeworms (Echinococcus spp., Dipylidium spp., Taenia spp., Diphyllobothrium spp.).
Mebendazole 20 mg/ml; praziquantel 1 mg/ml.
Sucrose, white petrolatum, colloidal anhydrous silica, white wax, aspartame, carob flavoring, Controx VP, refined corn oil.
It should be administered to dogs and cats at a dosage of 20 mg of mebendazole o/kg bw. and 1 mg of praziquantel/kg body weight.
Duelmint 20 puppies and kittens: 1 cc of paste, equal to 1 syringe mark, for every kg of body weight once a day for 3 consecutive days.
One syringe is sufficient to treat a total body weight of 5 kg in a treatment cycle. Administer the paste via syringe directly into the animal's oral cavity, preferably at the base of the tongue. Fasting is not necessary and the paste can also be administered mixed with food. To ensure correct dosage, body weight must be determined as accurately as possible.
Method of administration: The product is packaged in syringe tubes equipped with a measuring ring and a graduated plunger in which each mark corresponds to one cubic centimeter (cc), equivalent to 1 ml. When the package is intact, the dosing ring is positioned at the end of the plunger. To precisely determine the exact amount of paste to administer, it is necessary to rotate the dosing ring clockwise. The ring should be stopped to the right of the notch corresponding to the number of cc desired, after which, once the cap has been removed, simply press the plunger all the way down. For subsequent administrations, turn the ring counterclockwise, counting the number of cc you wish to administer, and so on until the syringe is completely empty.
In case of roundworm infestation, it is advisable to repeat the treatment every 3-4 weeks until the stool test is negative, to target the adults that have developed in the meantime from the various larval forms. The parasites' resistance to a specific class of anthelmintics may be impaired. develop following frequent and repeated use of an active substance of the same class. In case of Dipylidium caninum infestations, effective control of flea vectors is necessary to prevent reinfestation. Dogs kept in groups or in kennels should be treated simultaneously.
Roundworm and hookworm infestation: In some animals, the parasites Ancylostoma caninum and Toxocara canis may not be completely eliminated by treatment, resulting in a continued risk of spreading eggs into the environment. Fecal monitoring is recommended, and based on the results of these tests, treatment with a nematocidal product may be necessary. In debilitated or severely infested animals, the product should only be used after a risk/benefit assessment by the responsible veterinarian. Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to any of the product's ingredients.
Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the product to animals: In case of accidental contact, wash hands thoroughly.
Do not use simultaneously with external pesticides based on phosphate esters.
