Product Description

Lozenges for sore throat based on ambroxol hydrochloride.

Indications

Symptomatic treatment of pain in acute inflammation due to sore throat.

Ingredients and Composition

One lozenge contains:

• Active ingredient: 20 mg of ambroxol hydrochloride.
• Excipients: sorbitol (1.37 g / lozenge), lactose monohydrate (less than 1 mg per lozenge), lemon flavoring (containing sucrose), sucralose macrogol 6000, talc.

Directions for use and dosage

The Zerinol Gola Limone lozenges should be administered Orally to adults or children over 12 years of age. A maximum of 6 lozenges can be taken per day, 1 lozenge at each dose, to be dissolved in the mouth. The medicine should not be administered to children under 12 years of age and should be used for a maximum of 3 days. If no improvement is observed after 3 days, consult your doctor.

Warnings

Cases of serious skin reactions such as erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS)/toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) have been reported in association with the administration of ambroxol hydrochloride. If symptoms or signs of a progressive skin rash (sometimes associated with blisters or mucosal lesions) are present, treatment with ambroxol hydrochloride should be discontinued immediately and a doctor should be consulted. Episodes of dyspnea may occur in the context of underlying disease such as a swollen throat. Local allergic reactions can also cause dyspnea. The local anesthetic properties of ambroxol can alter sensory perception in the pharyngeal space. Zerinol Gola 20 mg lozenges is not suitable for the treatment of oral ulcers. In these cases, consult your doctor. In case of impaired renal function or severe liver disease, the medicine can be used only after consulting your doctor. Patients with a rare hereditary condition of fructose intolerance should not take this medicine.

Contraindications

Zerinol Gola limone 20 mg lozenges is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ambroxol or to any of the excipients. Patients with fructose intolerance should not take this medicine.

Undesirable effects

• Immune system disorders: rare hypersensitivity reactions, not known anaphylactic reactions, including anaphylactic shock, angioedema and pruritus.
• Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: rare rash, urticaria, not known serious cutaneous adverse reactions (including erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis).
• Nervous system disorders: common dysgeusia (e.g. altered taste).
• Gastrointestinal, respiratory, thoracic and mediastinal disorders: common hypoaesthesia of the oral cavity and pharynx, nausea; uncommon diarrhoea, upper abdominal pain, dyspepsia, dry mouth; rare dry throat, not known vomiting.
• Reporting of suspected adverse reactions: Reporting suspected adverse reactions that occur after authorisation of the medicinal product is important. It allows continued monitoring of the benefit/risk balance of the medicinal product.
