Use of the product, especially if prolonged, may give rise to sensitization phenomena. In this case, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor to establish appropriate therapy. In a limited number of patients, oropharyngeal ulcerations may be a sign of more serious pathologies. Therefore, if the symptoms persist for more than three days, the patient should contact their doctor or dentist as needed. The use of benzydamine is not recommended in patients with hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs. Tantum Verde mouthwash should be administered with caution to subjects who have had episodes of bronchial asthma in the past, as bronchospasm may occur in these patients.
Excipients
Tantum Verde mouthwash contains parahydroxybenzoates which may cause allergic reactions (even delayed). Tantum Verde mouthwash contains mint flavouring, which in turn contains benzyl alcohol, cinnamyl alcohol, citral, citronellol, geraniol, isoeugenol, linalool, eugenol and d-limonene. Benzyl alcohol, cinnamyl alcohol, citral, citronellol, geraniol, isoeugenol, linalool, eugenol, and d-limonene may cause allergic reactions.

| Gastrointestinal disorders | Rare: burning mouth, dry mouth. |

Intoxication is expected only in case of accidental ingestion of large quantities of benzydamine (>300 mg). The symptoms associated with overdose by ingestion of benzydamine are mainly gastrointestinal and central nervous system-related. The most frequent gastrointestinal symptoms are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and esophageal irritation. Central nervous system symptoms include dizziness, hallucinations, agitation, anxiety, and irritability. Symptoms of overdose in children, such as excitation, convulsions, sweating, ataxia, tremor, and vomiting, have been reported very rarely after oral administration of benzydamine at a dosage approximately 100 times that of the 3 mg lozenge. In cases of acute overdose, only symptomatic treatment is possible; patients should be closely monitored and receive supportive treatment. Adequate hydration should be maintained.
There are no data on the use of benzydamine during pregnancy or breastfeeding. The excretion of the product in breast milk has not been studied. Animal studies on the effects on pregnancy and lactation are insufficient (see section 5.3), and therefore the potential risk for humans cannot be assessed. Tantum Verde should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
