Tantum Verde Gingivitis and Stomatitis contains the active ingredients benzydamine hydrochloride (a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug) and cetylpyridinium chloride (an antiseptic).
Indications
Tantum Gingivitis and Stomatitis is used as an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and pain reliever for mouth and gum irritation, gingivitis, and stomatitis (such as canker sores, mouth sores, and denture sores). It is also indicated before and after tooth extractions.
Contact your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 5-7 days of treatment.
Composition
The active ingredients are: benzydamine hydrochloride (100 ml of mouthwash contains 0.15 g of benzydamine hydrochloride equivalent to 0.134 g of benzydamine) and cetylpyridinium chloride (100 ml of mouthwash contains 0.05 g of cetylpyridinium chloride equivalent to 0.0425 g of cetylpyridinium).
The other ingredients are: glycerol, ethanol (96%), saccharin, polyoxyl hydrogenated castor oil, mint flavoring, sodium bicarbonate, quinoline yellow (E 104), patent blue V (E 131), Purified water.
Directions for use and Dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose is 15 ml, 2-3 times a day.
Pour Tantum Verde Gingivitis and Stomatitis into the measuring cup up to the 15 ml mark. Rinse 2-3 times a day.
Caution: Do not exceed the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.
Tantum Verde Mouth can be used, as needed, at any time of the day.
Use Tantum Verde for a maximum of 5-7 days. For longer-term use, consult your doctor.
Contact your doctor if the condition occurs repeatedly or if you have noticed any recent changes in its characteristics.
Warnings
If you are allergic to benzydamine hydrochloride, cetylpyridinium chloride, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Tantum Verde Bocca.
Using Tantum Verde Bocca, especially if prolonged, may cause sensitization (allergic reactions). If this happens, stop treatment and consult your doctor to initiate appropriate therapy.
Tantum Verde Bocca contains polyoxyhydrogenated castor oil, which may cause localized skin reactions.
This medicine contains mint flavoring, which contains benzyl alcohol, cinnamyl alcohol, citral, citronellol, geraniol, isoeugenol, linalool, eugenol, and D-Limonene. Benzyl alcohol, cinnamyl alcohol, citral, citronellol, geraniol, isoeugenol, linalool, eugenol, and D-limonene may cause allergic reactions.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Side effects that may occur while taking Tantum Verde Bocca, the frequency of which is not known, are:
Benzidamine:
- Slight numbness in the mouth. This effect is typically associated with the local anesthetic activity of benzydamine cetylpyridinium:
- Drug intolerance symptoms manifested by mild, transient burning or irritation.
These effects do not require modification of treatment.
Following the instructions in this leaflet reduces the risk of adverse effects.
Overdose
If you take too much of the medicine or accidentally ingest large quantities, consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
Overdosage has never occurred with the local use of benzydamine hydrochloride and cetylpyridinium chloride.
If locally administered benzydamine passes into the blood (systemic absorption), the toxic manifestations of overdose include: excitement, convulsions, sweating, ataxia. (progressive loss of muscle coordination), tremors, and vomiting.
If you ingest large quantities of cetylpyridinium chloride (more than ten packs of the product), you may experience symptoms such as: nausea, vomiting, dyspnea (labored breathing), cyanosis (insufficient oxygen in the blood), asphyxia (suffocation), decreased central nervous system activity, hypotension (low blood pressure), and coma (loss of consciousness and alertness).
If you forget to take Tantum Verde Gingivitis and stomatitis
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, Tantum Verde Bocca should be used only under medical supervision.
Driving and using machines
The use of Tantum Verde Bocca, at the recommended doses, does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.
