Product Description

A medical device with laxative action that, through an osmotic action, regulates the intestine naturally. It is neither absorbed nor fermented in the intestine, does not irritate the mucosa, and is eliminated in the feces in an unchanged form.

Indications

Stipsigol is particularly indicated for chronic constipation and cases of occasionally irregular bowel movements. Thanks to its affinity for water, it softens the stool, facilitating evacuation without causing cramps, abdominal pain, or urgency. Its effectiveness does not decrease over time.

Composition

Macrogol 3350; excipients: silicon dioxide, flavoring, sodium saccharin.

Directions for use and Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, it is advisable to use Stipsigol as follows:

• From 6 months to 2 years (up to 12 kg): 0.8 g of product per kg of body weight per day.
• From 2 to 11 years (from 12 kg to 20 kg): 1 g of product per kg of body weight per day.
• Adults and children over 11 years (>20 kg): 10-30 g of product per day. The dose may be increased or decreased depending on the individual response to treatment. In any case, it is advisable to consult a doctor.

Use the product in pediatric children only after medical advice. The most appropriate daily dosage should be decided based on the child's weight and the severity of the constipation.

The maximum necessary dose does not normally exceed 30 g of product per day. It is possible to divide the daily dose into several administrations. Based on the dosage indicated above, take the quantity of product using the measuring cup equipped with markings that allow you to measure 2.5 g (first marking) and 5 g (level measuring cup) of product. Dissolve the product quantity as follows:

• 1/2 measuring spoon: 2.5 g in 1/4 glass of water (about 30 ml);
• 1 measuring spoon: 5 g in 1/2 glass of water (about 62.5 ml);
• 2 measuring spoons: 10 g in 1 glass of water (about 125 ml).

Warnings

Gastrointestinal disturbances (abdominal pain, borborygmi, diarrhea or loose stools) may appear, especially in the initial phase of use, as well as nausea, mild vomiting, abdominal distension, flatulence, perianal inflammation and irritation, effects which normally improve by reducing the dose. Allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, have been observed very rarely. Other symptoms of allergic reactions such as itching, hives, and dyspnea. If side effects persist, discontinue treatment and consult your doctor. Keep the device and any resulting solution out of the reach of children. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, use only after consulting your doctor. Do not use the device after the expiration date shown on the package. Do not use if the package is damaged. Do not exceed the recommended dose: an overdose may cause severe pain and abdominal distension. Induced diarrhea may also occur, with electrolyte disturbances caused by excessive bowel movements. If you suspect an overdose, consult your doctor immediately. Do not use for more than 30 days. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor. During treatment, it is advisable to follow a suitable diet, accompanied by the administration of an oral rehydration solution (ORS) to avoid dehydration. Do not use for children under 6 months.

Contraindications

Taking the device is not recommended in cases of intestinal perforation or obstruction due to structural or functional disorders of the intestinal wall, ileum, serious inflammatory diseases of the intestinal tract, such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and toxic megacolon. Known hypersensitivity to macrogol (polyethylene glycol). Do not use in the presence of known gastric or intestinal lesions. Do not take the medical device while using other devices or oral medicinal products: the osmotic power of macrogol and the induced increase in gastrointestinal transit speed may negatively affect their efficacy. In any case, consult your doctor before taking Stipsigol if you are undergoing other therapies.

Storage

Store the intact package in a dry place, away from direct light or heat. Store the device below 25°C.
