Product Description

Composition:

100 ml contain: Active ingredients: tyrothricin 0.02 g; cetrimonium bromide 0.05 g; benzocaine 0.05 g.

Excipients

Peppermint essential oil 0.25 ml; alcohol to taste for 100 ml.

Therapeutic indications

Topical treatment of bacterial stomatitis sensitive to tyrothricin.

Contraindications

Subjects with known hypersensitivity to the individual components, especially tyrothricin. Subjects known to have a marked predisposition to allergies.

Dosage

Adults: 2–3 applications at a time, 3–4 times a day. Children: 1–2 applications at a time, 3–4 times a day.

Warnings and precautions

In early childhood, the product should be administered only when strictly necessary and under the direct supervision of a doctor. If there is no response within two days of starting administration, discontinue treatment due to the possible colonization of strains or fungi (especially Candida) resistant to tyrothricin. The use, especially if prolonged, of topical products may give rise to sensitization phenomena. In this case, therapy must be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted. The same procedure should be followed in the event of the development of non-susceptible microorganisms. Keep out of reach of children.

Interactions

Considering the low doses administered, no serious interactions with other drugs are expected.

Side effects

Blackening of the tongue, rarely glossitis, and sensitization reactions have been reported with the use of tyrothricin, which, however, regress with discontinuation of treatment. More significant may be the symptoms of sensitization to anesthetics, including muscle disorders and convulsions.
