Topical treatment of warts, corns and calluses.

Indications

Duofilm 16.7% + 16.7% collodion salicylic acid + lactic acid is a medicine indicated for the skin treatment of warts, corns and calluses, thanks to the exfoliating action of salicylic acid and lactic acid. It must be applied using the appropriate brush only on the affected area.

Composition

Salicylic acid, lactic acid.

Excipients

Elastic collodion (rosin, castor oil and collodion, in turn consisting of pyroxylin, ethyl alcohol and ether)

Directions for use and Dosage

For topical use only.
Adults, including the elderly: the medicine must be applied using the appropriate brush only on the affected area, avoiding contact of the liquid with healthy skin.
The medicine should be applied to the wart, callus, or corn once a day, preferably in the evening before going to bed.
Follow the following instructions for use: Soak the area to be treated in warm water for about 5 minutes and dry thoroughly with a clean towel; rub the affected area with a nail file, an abrasive stone, a cardboard emery board, or a rough cloth, taking care not to cause bleeding;
Apply the medicine to the wart, callus, or corn using the appropriate brush, taking care not to spill onto the surrounding healthy skin;
Let the solution dry completely: in the case of localized warts on the feet or if the wart, callus, or corn involves large areas, cover the area with a plaster to promote absorption of the active ingredients.
It is recommended to continue treatment until one of the following conditions occurs:
Corns and calluses have been treated for 2 weeks;
Warts have been treated for 12 weeks;
Or until the wart, callus, or corn is completely removed and the normal skin creases have been restored.

Warnings

The use of topical products, especially if prolonged, may give rise to sensitization phenomena. In this case, it is necessary to discontinue treatment and institute appropriate therapy.
Apply the medicine only to the warts without spilling onto the surrounding healthy skin.
The medicine may cause eye irritation. Avoid contact with eyes and other mucous membranes.
If the product accidentally comes into contact with mucous membranes or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water, remove the collodion film that forms and continue rinsing with water for at least a quarter of an hour.
Avoid application on healthy skin. The medicine may cause skin irritation.

Interactions

There are no known interactions with other drugs.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

The safety of salicylic acid and lactic acid solution for use during pregnancy has not been established.
Studies on animals administered salicylic acid orally have shown embryotoxicity at high doses.
The medicine is not recommended during pregnancy.
Salicylates are excreted in breast milk. The medicine is not recommended during breastfeeding.
If used or administered during breastfeeding, avoid contact with the breast area to prevent accidental ingestion by the infant.

Storage

Due to its high flammability, it is recommended to store the product at temperatures no higher than 25°C, away from flames and heat sources.
Reseal the bottle tightly after use.
A significant increase in density of the product indicates that the bottle has not been closed properly and that the solvent it contains has partially evaporated.
