Features

Biatain Alginate is a highly absorbent alginate dressing for moderately to highly exuding wounds of various sizes, shapes, and depths. Biatain Alginate has superior absorption compared to other alginate and hydrofiber dressings.

The design and structural integrity of the dressing allow it to be cut and adapted to wounds of various sizes, shapes, and depths. The dressing conforms to the wound bed, fulfilling an important aspect of the healing process.

The superior absorption of Biatain^® Alginate and the formation of a gel, which traps exudate within the dressing, prevent leakage that can damage the periwound skin.

Unlike hydrofiber dressings, Biatain^® Alginate has a documented haemostatic effect, i.e. the ability to stop the flow of blood in cases of minor bleeding, thanks to the release of calcium ions from the dressing.

Upon contact with wound exudate, Biatain^® Alginate transforms into a soft, cohesive gel that creates the optimal moist environment for wound healing.

Biatain^® Alginate is an alginate dressing composed of 85% alginate and 15% carboxymethylcellulose (CMC).
