Betadine 1% Mouthwash is a mint-flavored antiseptic solution for disinfecting the oral mucosa. The active ingredient in Betadine, povidone-iodine (10% iodine), is effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, fungi, protozoa, yeasts, and some viruses. Povidone-iodine has the advantage over elemental iodine of being water-soluble and less irritating. Betadine 1% Mouthwash can be used neat or diluted, but its effectiveness is maintained at a dilution of 1 part Betadine to 2 parts water; it can be used 2-3 times a day. Avoid concomitant use with other antiseptic products. Do not use soaps or ointments containing mercury or benzoin compounds on the treated area at the same time.

Important: Betadine 1% mouthwash can address the causes of inflammation of the oral mucosa.
