Indications

Mepilex® Ag is the versatile antimicrobial foam dressing for situations where antimicrobial action is needed to reduce the bioburden in the wound. It is designed for low to moderately exuding wounds and burns. It can be used to treat foot and leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, and partial-thickness burns.

This silver-enriched foam dressing is able to inactivate wound pathogens (bacteria and fungi) within 30 minutes, as demonstrated in in vitro tests. An international consensus document has concluded that the antimicrobial action is indicated to help reduce the bioburden in infected wounds. It also acts as an antimicrobial barrier in wounds at high risk of infection or reinfection.

Mepilex® Ag adheres gently to Safetac®, the original pain-reducing silicone contact layer. This means patients experience less pain when changing their dressing.

Mepilex Ag can be used to manage low- to moderately exuding wounds, such as foot and leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, and partial-thickness burns. It can be used under compression bandages. Mepilex Ag can be used on infected wounds as part of a treatment regimen under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.
