The granules should not be chewed or dissolved, but should be placed on the tongue and then swallowed while drinking a glass of water for each dose: failure to follow this last recommendation may cause problems. A diet rich in liquids promotes the effect of the medicine.

 

Be careful not to take the medicine immediately before going to bed. After ingesting it, wait at least an hour before going to bed.

 

Laxatives should be used as infrequently as possible and for no more than seven days. Use for longer periods of time requires a doctor's prescription after adequate evaluation of the individual case.

• senna fruits 6.74 g – 13.15 g equivalent to 0.3 g of sennosides calculated as sennoside B. 

 

Talc, gum arabic, cumin essence, sage essence, mint essence, liquid paraffin, solid paraffin, E 172, sucrose.

There are no adequate and well-controlled studies on the use of the medicinal product during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Therefore, the medicine should be used only when necessary, under the direct supervision of a doctor, after evaluating the expected benefit to the mother in relation to the possible risk to the fetus or infant.

Hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients. Laxatives are contraindicated in subjects with acute or unknown abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting, intestinal obstruction or stenosis, rectal bleeding of unknown origin, or severe dehydration. Contraindicated in subjects with difficulty swallowing or who have pathologies (e.g., hiatal hernia) or conditions (e.g., debilitated, bedridden subjects) that carry the risk of regurgitation. Contraindicated in the presence of colonic atony or fecal impaction. Contraindicated in children under 10 years of age.

Abuse of laxatives (frequent or prolonged use or excessive doses) can cause persistent diarrhea with consequent loss of water, mineral salts (especially potassium) and other essential nutrients. In more severe cases, dehydration or hypokalemia may occur, which can lead to cardiac or neuromuscular dysfunction, especially in the case of concomitant treatment with cardiac glycosides, diuretics or corticosteroids. Abuse of laxatives, especially contact laxatives (stimulant laxatives), can cause serious complications. cause dependence (and, therefore, the possible need to gradually increase the dosage), chronic constipation and loss of normal intestinal functions (intestinal atony).

In children under 12 years of age, the medicine can be used only after consulting a doctor. The treatment of chronic or recurrent constipation always requires medical intervention for diagnosis, prescription of drugs and monitoring during therapy. Consult your doctor when the need for a laxative arises from a sudden change in previous bowel habits (frequency and characteristics of bowel movements) that lasts for more than a year. two weeks or when the use of the laxative fails to produce effects.

It is also advisable for elderly or unhealthy subjects to consult their doctor before using the medicine.

 

During treatment, ingest a large quantity of water (6–8 glasses) to prevent the onset of intestinal obstruction. The medicine contains sucrose: patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, or sucrase-isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicine.

Laxatives can reduce the residence time in the intestine, and therefore the absorption, of other drugs administered orally at the same time.

Therefore, avoid taking laxatives and other medicines at the same time: after taking a medicine, leave an interval of at least 2 hours before taking the laxative.

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. These side effects are usually temporary. The following side effects may occur:

Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):
- Cramp-like pain in the abdomen
- Abdominal colic
- Flatulence (wind)
- Abdominal distension (feeling of bloating)
- Gastrointestinal obstruction
- Chromaturia (slight yellow-brown or red discoloration of the urine)
- Faecal impaction (hard, bulky stool in the intestine)

Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people)
- Obstruction of the oesophagus.

Excessive doses may cause abdominal pain and diarrhoea, the resulting loss of fluids and electrolytes must be replaced. In this case, it is advisable to reduce the dosage.
