Thanks to its particular components, it is able to antagonize oxidative damage due to the presence of free radicals that form in large quantities in the retina, particularly in the macular area, protecting the visual organ from possible age-related degenerations and damage caused by the environment.
By helping to strengthen the density of the macular pigment, it can exert a protective action against high-energy ultraviolet radiation, thus increasing the probability of protection for subjects at risk of macular degeneration or cataracts.
Tagetes dry extract
Contains lutein and zeaxanthin, carotenoids belonging to the class of xanthophylls, substances with strong antioxidant and protective properties, which are concentrated in the body especially in the eye; in particular at the level of the macula: by filtering light, they are able to protect the most sensitive points delicate retina from the harmful effects of light radiation.
DHA (Omega 3 Fatty Acids)
This is a category of essential fatty acids that are essential for the proper functioning of the body, and which the body itself cannot synthesize automatically. They are essential components of the retina, where they play a fundamental role in visual function: it is in fact the area of the body where the maximum concentration of DHA is found.
Vitamin E
Thanks to its antioxidant capacity, it contributes to the protection of lipids in cell membranes, the main targets of free radicals: since oxidation causes cell aging, vitamin E can be useful in counteracting cellular degenerative processes. Since vitamin E concentration decreases with age, supplementation may be helpful in cases of changes in the retinal pigment epithelium accompanied by decreased vision, with possible consequent improvement in focusing.
Selenium
Antioxidant, essential for slowing down cellular aging processes and, consequently, for counteracting the degenerative processes triggered by free radicals; it also increases the effectiveness of vitamin E, so it is advisable to take the two substances together.
