General information Stonur Potassium Citrate and Magnesium Citrate have a protective role against lithogenicity as they reduce urinary oversaturation of calcium salts, form soluble complexes with calcium ions, inhibit the growth and aggregation of crystals, increase the clearance and dissolution rate of fragments, increase protective analytes (e.g. citrate, potassium and pH).

In particular, Magnesium Citrate encourages the formation of complexes between magnesium and oxalate, thus reducing the risk of oxalate formation. Supersaturation of calcium oxalate inhibits the growth of calcium oxalate crystals and inhibits the growth of calcium phosphate crystals.

Phyllanthus niruri extract contains triterpenes that inhibit calcium oxalate-induced cytotoxicity, lignans (phyllanthina) that have shown uricosuric activity, and alkaloids that have antispasmodic activity, as they produce smooth muscle relaxation, mostly evident in the urinary tract, which facilitates urinary elimination of stones.

Potassium bicarbonate improves calcium balance through increased calcium retention, both renal and bone. Vitamin B6, being a cofactor of the transaminase responsible for the conversion of glyoxylate (oxalate precursor) to glycine, influences oxalate production by reducing the substrate for its formation.
