Characteristics

Alfauno Plus contains:

• Vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol), a ubiquitous antioxidant in membrane lipids and lipoproteins. Its main action is to protect cell membranes from oxidative damage by blocking the lipoperoxidation chain reaction and thus limiting the propagation of oxidative damage triggered by free radicals on cells and tissues.       
• Astaxanthin, a red pigment extracted from the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis, responsible for the color of most crustaceans and some fish, such as salmon. Its scavenger activity is high against multiple radical species, including singlet and triplet oxygen, and it neutralizes free radicals by trapping them in its chemical structure. Equipped with anti-inflammatory action and the inhibition of lipid lipoperoxidation, it protects cell and mitochondrial membranes.       
• Vitis Vinifera (common grapevine), source of powerful natural antioxidants, the so-called proanthocyanidins (also called OPC: oligomeric procyanidins or polymeric catechins) belonging to the polyphenol family. These molecules would act at the hydro-lipid interface, with a possible role in the regeneration of both vitamin C (hydrophilic) and E (lipophilic), adjuvants in tissue repair, in conditions of oxidative stress and strengthening of the immune defenses.       
• Serenoa Repens, Soy Isoflavones (genistein and daidzein), Cucurbita Pepo (aliphatic unsaturated fatty acids),  provided with regulatory activity of the 5alpha-reductase enzyme useful in the prevention of androgen-dependent hair miniaturization. Isoflavones, in particular genistein and daidzein, of which they represent the most important class, are characterized by the presence of a phenolic group and are also provided with antioxidant action and weak phytoestrogenic action.       
• L-lysine, an essential amino acid that plays a fundamental role in the uptake of zinc and iron and appears to enhance the effect of iron supplementation in iron-deficient women with chronic telogen effluvium.      
• Methionine, Cystine, sulfur-containing amino acids, fundamental components of keratin. Methionine is a fundamental methylating agent for protein synthesis and a precursor of almost all sulfur-containing compounds. Cystine plays a stabilizing role in the three-dimensional structure of protein molecules, as well as being an important constituent alpha-keratin and glutathione.          
• B complex vitamins (B2-B6), useful in the treatment of telogen effluvium, were found to be superior to placebo as they proved more active in increasing the anagen hair count and hair diameter.      
• Biotin (vitamin H), essential cofactor for some carboxylases (biotin deficiency, resulting from various conditions, can induce effluvium, hair thinning and depigmentation). Its supplementation appears to have beneficial effects on hair appendages even at normal biotin concentrations.       
• Iron, The deficiency of which, with or without anemia, is observed in numerous conditions characterized by hair shedding with an increase in telogen phase hair. Low iron levels, even in the absence of iron deficiency anemia, characterize numerous cases of telogen effluvium, especially where there are reduced iron stores even before anemia is documented. Iron supplementation has been shown to have a beneficial effect on hair loss, also considering that it is an essential trace element for ribonuclease reductase, an enzymatic activity correlated with DNA synthesis in proliferating cells.       
• Copper and Zinc, which are useful as they are fundamental in numerous essential biological functions including the physiology of the appendages.
