Indications

Perlaflor is a dietary supplement consisting of a specific combination of live lactic acid bacteria, Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Saccharomyces boulardii, with added Lactoferrin, Zinc, and FOS. It is useful in the treatment of acute viral and bacterial infectious diarrhea and in the prevention of diarrhea caused by antibiotic therapy.
Under physiological conditions, the intestinal bacterial flora lives in symbiosis with the host organism, providing it with various benefits (eubiosis). When this condition is altered for various reasons (viral and/or bacterial infections, poor diet, pathological conditions, drug therapies, etc.), a whole series of problems can arise, including gastrointestinal disorders such as bloating and abdominal tension, diarrhea, flatulence, constipation, colic, and even immunosuppression, as this saprophytic flora affects the permeability of the intestinal mucosa.
The species of ferments present in Perlaflor sachets are:

• Lactobacillus rhamnosus (SGL06): is able to overcome the acidity of the upper gastrointestinal tract unharmed and to colonize the intestine highly efficiently, where it exerts numerous beneficial effects:
  - improves the permeability of the intestinal mucosa; Intestinal;
  - improves the balance of intestinal microflora by reducing potentially pathogenic microorganisms (E. coli, Streptococcus, Clostridium, Bacteroides fragilis, Salmonella) and the production of short-chain fatty acids.
• Saccharomyces boulardii: is a non-pathogenic probiotic yeast, able to survive gastric acidity and resist proteolysis. Saccharomyces boulardii acts as a temporary flora to protect the intestinal system and keep it functioning properly.
• Lactoferrin: is a glycoprotein that binds two Fe2+ atoms and is present in breast milk and many secretions. It has several actions, including: immunostimulant (promoting the growth and differentiation of helper T lymphocytes, CD4, CD8, and B lymphocytes, and also plays an important role in the release and regulation of myotactic chemical mediators); an antibacterial action (by not making free iron available, which is essential for promoting the growth of pathogenic bacteria, thus making them more vulnerable to the action of antibiotics, for example the easier eradication of Helicobacter pylori, which can be achieved by taking lactoferrin during antibiotic therapy); an antiviral action (preventing the fusion and penetration of the virus into the host cell); It has an antioxidant effect (by chelating free iron, it counteracts the formation of free radicals) and also an antianemic effect (the ability of this glycoprotein to chelate iron is beneficial as it increases the bioavailability of the iron itself).

• FOS: is a prebiotic fiber useful for the metabolism of the bacterial flora present in the body. The latter are in fact able to digest this substance, from which they produce a series of organic and non-organic molecules that are in turn essential for protecting the integrity and functionality of the intestine.
