Alkaest is an Italian laboratory where various Spagyric Quintessences are created with Alcohol, Essential Oil, and Mineral Salts.
The Alcohol is produced endogenously, obtained by fermentation of the individual plant in question. This alcohol does not have the common characteristics of pharmaceutical alcohol. In fact, it is the result of the maximum disintegration that matter can undergo. It was able to achieve this in its decomposition and was therefore called by alchemists the 'Spirit' of that plant (while vinegar, or rather acetic acid, was 'the Corruption of said Spirit').
The Essential oil is extracted by cold pressing or steam pressing (depending on the plant being processed) and subsequently purified on the ashes of the plant itself.
A quantity of bioavailable elements (Soluble Mineral Salts) are extracted from the ashes of the plant, which are integrated into the remedy during processing.
