Product Description

Food supplement based on Manuka honey for antibacterial activity and general well-being.

Indications

Manuka Health Manuka Honey MGO 250+ of the highest quality from New Zealand has a minimum methylglyoxal content of 250 mg/kg. It has a delicious sweet and sour flavor and a soft, creamy, and velvety texture. It is known for its antibacterial activity.

Manuka Honey MGO 250+ is produced by bees that feed on the flowers of the Manuka tree (Leptospermum scoparium), a native plant that grows in the pristine, pollution-free expanses of New Zealand. Thanks to its wide distribution and the large quantity of nectar produced by its numerous flowers, Leptospermum Scoparium is one of the plants where bees, introduced to New Zealand by Europeans, prefer to collect nectar. The honey produced from it has an amber color, a particular flavor, and thixotropic properties, meaning it can decrease its viscosity when shaken.

It contains 250 Mgo (Methylglyoxal), or 250 mg of Methylglyoxal per kilo of honey. The acronym Mgo is a new standard recently applied, as it was discovered at the University of New Zealand. Dresden University of Applied Sciences has confirmed that the antibacterial power of Manuka Honey is due to a very specific compound contained in it, Methylglyoxal, a compound that forms naturally in the nectar of the Manuka flower and is responsible for the exceptional properties of Manuka honey.

Although the phytotherapeutic properties of this honey have been known for a long time by the native populations of New Zealand, until recently it was used outside these ethnic groups exclusively for food purposes. Following the first scientific studies conducted just under 30 years ago (1991), it was noted that, of all the local plant species from which bees obtained honey, that obtained from the flowers of Leptospermum Scoparium was among the most effective. active in terms of antibacterial properties.

Furthermore, even when Manuka honey is subjected to enzymatic action to eliminate peroxides, its activity does not vary significantly: this honey is currently the only one that maintains its antibacterial activity unchanged. This peculiar antibacterial property has been called UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) and is indicated with a specific value, for each honey sample, which indicates the percentage of phenol in solution that has the same bactericidal power.
