Indications
IXOLAT® 400 is a supplement based on Folic Acid from Quatrefolic, Lactoferrin, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12 and Zinc.
Due to its formulation, it is useful for the control of hyperhomocysteinemia, in women in the periconceptional period before and during pregnancy, in the elderly as it improves cognitive function and in all those cases in which the integration of B vitamins and folates is indicated.
Properties of the components
Folic acid from Quatrefolic, the bioactive form of folate, is the innovative solution for ensuring supplemental folate intake in cases of deficiencies or increased needs. Folic acid is essential for the reconversion of homocysteine into methionine. It is found abundantly in green leafy vegetables such as artichokes, broccoli, spinach, and lettuce, in legumes, especially beans and chickpeas, and in fruit, especially oranges and strawberries.
Vitamin B6 or Pyridoxine performs many important functions for the health of our body, and in particular contributes to the transformation of homocysteine into cystathione and subsequently into cysteine, to the normal functioning of the nervous system, and to the normal formation of red blood cells.
Vitamin B12, together with folic acid, is essential for the reconversion of homocysteine into methionine. An adequate intake of this vitamin can be ensured through diet, mainly found in foods of animal origin, including red meat, fish, poultry, dairy products, and eggs.
Zinc plays a role in regulating homocysteine metabolism, helping to lower levels when it is deficient in the body.
