Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum graecum L.) is a plant traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine as an emollient, laxative, and lactation stimulant.
The seeds of this plant are rich in galactomannans, a particular type of soluble fiber that has numerous health properties.
The peculiarity of these fibers lies in their ability, through a delaying or modulating effect on the absorption of glucose from food and to improve the glycemic response.
Galactomannans have a beneficial effect in case of digestive problems, acting as a barrier against both hydrochloric acid and pepsin that against irritating foods.
Furthermore, these fibers can induce an effective satiating action which has favorable repercussions in controlling body weight.
