Indications
Devil's Claw is a supplement based on the plant of the same name: Numerous clinical and pharmacological studies have highlighted the marked anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anti-arthritic action of Devil's Claw roots. Clinical studies show that it is not very effective in acute inflammatory rheumatism, while it is very effective in chronic or degenerative forms (arthrosis), where it can be used to control painful symptoms and facilitate functional recovery of the joints. The concentration of iridoids can reach up to 3% in the dry drug, and their mechanism of action is similar to that of synthetic anti-inflammatory drugs, which act by inhibiting the synthesis of certain prostaglandins. However, Devil's Claw has The advantage of not showing the unwanted side effects (gastrointestinal damage, liver and kidney toxicity) that synthetic nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs show. Due to its properties, Devil's Claw has been definitively accepted by modern phytotherapy. Preparations for external use show the same properties as those used systemically. Devil's Claw is also a gastric stimulant (tonic-bitter) and also displays choleretic properties. Very recent research has shown that it also affects the cardiovascular system: the aqueous extract administered orally and intravenously to rats causes, in a dose-dependent manner, a significant reduction in blood pressure, while on the isolated rabbit heart, Devil's Claw exerts a negative chronotropic (decrease in heart rate) and positive inotropic (increase in contraction force) effect.
Directions for use and Dosage
2 tablets three times a day. Continue taking the tablets, capsules, or tincture and applying the emulsion for a few days after the pain has subsided. Warnings: Keep out of reach of children under three years of age. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
