Created in 1930 by Elizabeth Arden to care for the skin, Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant became an instant and overwhelming success.
What made it so popular is its unique formula. A combination of petrolatum, a skin-soothing beta-hydroxy acid in one of its first cosmetic uses, and vitamin E was effective. The apricot-colored balm was so beneficial to its customers that Miss Arden used it to treat the grazes on the legs of her famous thoroughbred horses. Its name, too, comes from a remarkable performance—a loyal customer used it to treat her child's scraped knee, and eight hours later, "the skin appeared completely repaired."
Directions for use
