Features

Cleansing solution for dogs and cats formulated for the prevention and control of external otitis caused by bacteria sensitive to chlorhexidine, with a gentle exfoliating and protective action on the skin of the external ear. The 0.2% concentration of chlorhexidine is considered effective and non-ototoxic in all clinical studies conducted. Theraxidin otological cleanser used for cleansing, combines the delicate antiseptic properties of Chlorhexidine with the effective removal of excess earwax thanks to the action of its active ingredients, while restoring the physiological environment of the external ear.

Active Ingredients

• Chlorhexidine 0.2%: molecule with bactericidal activity used in clinical practice for the topical treatment of skin infections; At this concentration, it does not have an ototoxic effect.
• Salicylic Acid: has an exfoliating action and at the same time reduces the pH of the stratum corneum, increasing its hydration.
• Citric Acid: without altering the skin's bacterial flora, this natural acid acts against the formation of unpleasant odors and regulates the skin's pH.
• Squalane: an emollient substance, with a strong skin protective action as it regenerates the protective lipid layer and allows a reduction in the evaporation of water from the deep layers of the epidermis, thus allowing the restoration of ear health. Effective without causing irritation or sensitization, it is also used in pediatric products.
• Propylene Glycol: skin humectant, helps maintain proper hydration of the epidermis.

Directions for use and Dosage

For proper cleansing, introduce a fair amount of liquid into the ear canal, then gently massage the base of the ear for a minute and dry the excess product with gauze or cotton, using a movement from the inside out, thus also cleaning the auricle.
In dogs, the Chlorhexidine concentration of Theraxidin ear cleanser allows its use even in animals with perforated eardrums, but always under the supervision of a specialist.
The treatment can be performed 1-2 times a day until symptoms remit, or as a preventative and regular cleansing once a week or according to the advice of the veterinarian.
