Strike pasta is an anthelmintic specifically formulated for the treatment of gastrointestinal infections affecting equines, effectively acting against strongyles and tapeworms.
Its advanced formulation contains Pyrantel Pamoate as the active ingredient, ensuring targeted action. Excipients include aluminum magnesium silicate, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, propylene glycol, milk flavor, sodium saccharin, sorbitol 70% and purified water.
This product is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal infestations in horses, covering a broad spectrum of parasites:
- Large strongyles (Strongylus vulgaris, S. edentatus, S. equinus)
- Small strongyles (Triodonthophorus spp., Cyathostominae)
- Cestodes (Tapeworms: Anoplocephala perfoliata, Anoplocephala magna)
Although generally well tolerated, in some cases adverse effects on the gastrointestinal tract may occur, such as anorexia, vomiting or diarrhea. Use is not recommended in animals with hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or excipients, and in severely debilitated subjects, where the nicotinic effects of pyrantel may be more accentuated.
To preserve its effectiveness, store the product in its closed container. Once opened, the shelf life is 30 days.
It is essential to consider that frequent use of anthelmintics can lead to the development of resistance in parasites. It is recommended to base treatment on fecal parasitological examination for optimal control. In debilitated animals or with severe infestations, use must be preceded by a careful risk/benefit assessment. Although the active ingredient does not cause known adverse reactions in young subjects, in case of heavy infestations, digestive hemorrhages may occur. In case of accidental ingestion or skin contact by the operator, seek medical advice immediately. Avoid contact with people with known hypersensitivity to the excipients. Do not mix with other veterinary medicinal products in the absence of compatibility studies.
Product intended exclusively for horses.
Caution is advised in debilitated subjects, where concomitant administration with other cholinergic drugs could potentiate the effects of Pyrantel. Avoid simultaneous use with piperazine, as it may antagonize the anthelmintic efficacy of the product.
This is a veterinary medicinal product that does not require a veterinary prescription.
The product has demonstrated excellent tolerability. during all stages of pregnancy, lactation and weaning.
Directions for use
The product comes in a practical oral paste, easy to administer.
Intended for oral use only.
The dosage varies according to the type of infestation and the weight of the horse:
- For nematode infestations (large and small strongyles): administer 5 g of oral paste for every 100 kg of live weight, in a single dose.
- For cestode (tapeworm) infestations: administer 10 g of paste for every 100 kg of the horse's weight, in a single dose.
For precise dosing, prepare the syringe or dispensing gun (for the 300 g tube) by positioning the ring or regulator on the graduated scale corresponding to the horse's weight and the type of infestation.
Precautions for the operator:
- Wear protective gloves during administration.
- In case of accidental contact with the skin, wash hands thoroughly.
- People with known hypersensitivity to the excipients should avoid contact with the medicinal product.
- In case of accidental ingestion or spillage on the skin, seek medical advice immediately, showing the package leaflet or label.
