Indications
Septostil® is a sterile aqueous hydrogel containing: polyvinyl alcohol, with lubricating, moisturizing, viscoelastic, mucoadhesive, and protective properties; dexpanthenol, a homologue of pantothenic acid, belonging to the B group vitamins, a vitamin-based tissue nutrient, epithelium-protective; hexamidine disethionate, polyhexanide hydrochloride and disodium edetate with a protective action.
Thanks to the properties of its components, the product is indicated as an adjuvant in the corneal re-epithelialization process, particularly following stress or physical insults.
The presence of antiseptics in the formulation guarantees the sterility of the ophthalmic solution after the first opening of the vial, helping to protect the ocular tissues from irritation.
The concentration of polyvinyl alcohol (1.25%) in the product has been specifically studied to ensure that the hydrogel obtained has rheological characteristics similar to those of tear fluid and an effective adhesive property on the ocular mucous membranes with a lubricating, hydrating and protective effect, without causing visual blurring.
This hydrogel also ensures a prolonged permanence of the components on the ocular mucous membranes, promoting their nourishing-vitamin action, which aids re-epithelialization.
The excipients of the formulation include methylsulfonylmethane, a substance containing biologically available sulfur, which facilitates the surface absorption of dexpanthenol by activating cellular permeability.
Septostil® is an aqueous colloidal liquid characterized by the following chemical-physical characteristics: it is perfectly transparent and colorless; it is miscible with tear fluid in all proportions; It has pH, viscosity and osmolarity values that are perfectly compatible with ocular tissues and tear fluid and therefore has a high degree of tolerability.
Composition
Polyvinyl alcohol 1.25%, dexpanthenol, hexamidine disethionate 0.050%, polyhexanide hydrochloride 0.0001%, methylsulfonylmethane, disodium edetate, dibasic sodium phosphate, monobasic potassium phosphate, purified water.
Directions for use
Instill 1-2 drops of the solution into the eye, applying light pressure to the body of the bottle.
It is advisable to repeat the operation 2-3 or more times a day.
If used in combination with other eye drops, it is advisable to use them at different times for possible mutual dilution.
Warnings
Reseal the bottle tightly after use.
Use the product within 30 days of opening the bottle.
Do not use any remaining product.
Do not use the product after the expiry date indicated on the package.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use in case of subjective hypersensitivity or known incompatibility to any component of the preparation.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature between 2°C and 25°C.
