Medicated anti-parasitic collar for large dogs over 25 kg.
Prevendog 1,304 g of Virbac is a medicated anti-parasitic collar for small to medium-sized dogs indicated for:
A 75 cm collar (32.60 g) contains: deltamethrin 1.304 g.
Polyvinyl chloride, calcium stearate, epoxidized soya oil, diisooctyl adipate, titanium dioxide (E171), activated charcoal, triphenyl phosphate, calcium and zinc stearates.
One collar per dog. The 75 cm long collar is intended for large breed dogs. It fits necks up to 65 cm. Remove the collar from the packaging and remove the safety strip (peel-away). Adjust the collar around the animal's neck without overtightening it. Two fingers should be able to fit between the collar and the dog's neck. Slide the end through the buckle and trim any excess length exceeding 5 cm. This collar is designed with a safety locking mechanism (anti-strangulation safety). In the unlikely event that a dog is trapped, the dog's strength is sufficient to widen the collar for quick release.
Since the collar takes effect after one week, it should preferably be applied one week before animals are likely to be exposed to infestation. In rare cases, ticks may attach while the collar is being worn. Ticks will be killed and fall off the host within 24-48 hours of infestation without having bitten the animal, but it cannot be ruled out that individual ticks may attach after treatment. Therefore, transmission of infectious diseases by ticks cannot be ruled out. Under unfavorable conditions, transmission of infectious diseases by sandflies cannot therefore be completely ruled out. The effect of shampoo on the efficacy of the product has not been tested.
Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals: Accidental ingestion of this product may cause adverse reactions, including neurotoxic effects. Store the product in the original packaging. Keep the collar in the sachet until ready to use. Do not smoke, drink, or eat while handling the collar. Keep away from food, drink, and animal feed. Do not allow children to play with the collar or put it in their mouths. Dispose of any collar residues or cuts immediately. Wash your hands with cold water after applying the collar. Avoid prolonged contact with the collar or the dog wearing the collar. This may cause irritation. This includes sharing a bed with dogs wearing the collar; this is especially important for children. In case of accidental oral exposure or ingestion, seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet or label to the physician. Deltamethrin may cause hypersensitivity (allergic) reactions in sensitive individuals. People with known hypersensitivity to deltamethrin should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product and the treated animal. Consult a doctor in case of hypersensitivity reactions.
Other precautions: Although occasional contact with water does not reduce the effectiveness of the collar, the active ingredient is harmful to fish and other aquatic organisms. Dogs should be prevented from swimming in water for the first five days of wearing the collar.
In the absence of studies, do not use in puppies under 7 weeks of age. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients. Do not use in cats. Do not use in dogs with skin lesions.
If the collar is accidentally ingested by a dog, contact your veterinarian. The following symptoms of intoxication may be observed: uncoordinated movements, tremors, hypersalivation, vomiting, and stiff hindquarters. These symptoms usually disappear within 48 hours. In case of accidental ingestion, the pet owner should contact their veterinarian and should not initiate symptomatic treatment; the veterinarian should evaluate the need for any symptomatic treatment.
In rare cases, local skin reactions (itching, erythema, hair loss) involving the neck or the skin in general have been observed, which may indicate a local or general hypersensitivity reaction. In very rare cases, altered behavior (e.g., lethargy or hyperactivity), often associated with skin irritation, has also been reported. In rare occasions, gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and hypersalivation have been observed. In very rare cases, neuromuscular problems such as ataxia and muscle tremors have been observed. Symptoms usually resolve within 48 hours after removal of the collar. If any of these symptoms occur, the collar should be removed. Treatment should be symptomatic as there is no known specific antidote. The frequency of adverse reactions is defined using the following conventions:
Laboratory studies conducted on rats and rabbits have not shown any teratogenic effect. The safety of the veterinary medicinal product during pregnancy has not been established. Use is not recommended during pregnancy. It can be used during breastfeeding.
This veterinary medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions. Keep the sachet in the outer carton. Use immediately after first opening.
