Special warnings for each target species
In order to achieve effective parasite control, treatment should be carried out based on the results of the parasitological examination of the feces. Parasite resistance to a particular class of anthelmintics may develop following frequent and repeated use of an anthelmintic of the same class.
In case of infestations with Dipylidium caninum, adequate control measures on the fleas that act as vectors must be implemented to prevent reinfestation.
Special precautions for use in animals
It is not necessary to administer purgatives or to have the animal fast during treatment; it is good practice, during deworming, to give animals lighter meals than usual.
It is preferable to administer the drug on an empty stomach and at the same time with a small amount of palatable food.
By administering Pralen Maxi tablets according to the indicated instructions, the complete elimination of adult parasites is achieved; To eliminate the larval forms of hookworms and roundworms, the complete treatment must be repeated 60 days after the end of the first treatment for roundworm infestations and 18 days after the end of the first treatment for hookworm infestations.
The elimination of the parasites begins with the first administration; the eggs usually disappear completely within 10-15 days of the last administration. Therefore, the stool examination for control must be carried out after the aforementioned period of time has elapsed.
During treatment and also afterwards, it is necessary to carry out, especially in kennels or breeding farms, the appropriate disinfestation operations of the premises to avoid reinfestations.
Furthermore, it is advisable to carry out chemical denaturation of the feces expelled by treated subjects in order to interrupt the continuation of the parasitic cycle.
