Nemex paste for dogs is indicated for the treatment and prevention of roundworm and hookworm infestations in puppies and adult dogs.
Indications
Nemex paste is indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of intestinal parasitic nematodes in dogs. In particular, it is effective against: Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Ancylostoma spp, Uncinaria stenocephala. The mechanism of action of Nemex Paste for Dogs is selective against parasites and is attributable to an inhibition of neuromuscular transmission through an irreversible depolarization phenomenon of the motor endplate. In practice, pyrantel blocks the motor functions of the parasite by inhibiting cholinesterase activity and the resulting irreversible spastic paralysis allows the expulsion of the parasite itself with the feces.

pyrantel pamoate 21.62 mg/g
Dosage
14.5 mg of pyrantel pamoate equal to 5 mg of pyrantel base per kg body weight. 24 g tube: 2 cm of paste per kg of body weight (equivalent to 14.5 mg of pyrantel pamoate)/kg body weight. The contents of a 24 g tube are sufficient to treat dogs weighing up to 36 kg. 16 g syringe: One syringe graduation for every 2 kg of body weight. The contents of a 16 g syringe are sufficient to treat dogs weighing up to 24 kg. Administer in a single dose without keeping the dog fasting or following a specific diet. The product's palatability allows it to be spread on the animal's teeth with a finger or a laryngologist's spatula. In the case of unsociable or restless animals, the drug can be administered mixed with food.
Warnings
If dosing is difficult, for example, if you are unable to weigh the dog, the dose of the product to be administered should be rounded up. In fact, the preparation does not fully exert its therapeutic efficacy below the indicated dosage; on the contrary, high doses have no contraindications. The drug has a wide safety margin and can be safely administered to subjects of all ages, in any physiological state and in any state and severity of disease. Due to its spectrum of antihelminthic efficacy, the drug allows for intervention in dogs not only for the treatment of parasitic infections but also for their prophylaxis. Furthermore, prophylaxis also allows humans, who live with the dog, to avoid any risks. Ascariasis and hookworms fall into this category, causing enteritis, weight loss, dermatitis, nervous symptoms, etc. in dogs. Humans, especially children, who come into contact with ascarid larvae present in the dog's environment can contract the typical infestation of accidental hosts. Once ingested by humans, the parasite larvae do not develop into adult parasites but sometimes settle in aberrant areas, forming granulomas. Particularly serious is granuloma of the retina and adjacent tissues, which can lead to blindness in the affected eye. Overdose: can be administered in doses 40 times higher than the therapeutic dose and for several days without showing symptoms of intolerance (vomiting, weight loss).
