Spot-on solution for dogs useful for the treatment against ticks, sandflies, mosquitoes, flies and fleas.
Exspot by Msd Animal Health is a spot-on solution for dogs for the treatment of ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Ix odes ricinus, Dermacentor variabilis, Amblyomma americanum), sandflies (Phlebotomus perniciosus, Lutzomya cruzi, L. corumbaensis), mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti, A. taeniorhynchus), flies (Stomoxys calcitrans and Musca domestica), fleas (Ctenocephalides felis and C. canis) and lice in dogs. Regular use, at monthly intervals, eliminates ticks, sandflies, mosquitoes, flies, fleas, and lice and ensures protection against reinfestation for up to 4 weeks.
Permethrin (cis:trans 40:60) equal to 715 mg/ml (corresponding to 65% w/w).
Propylene glycol, monomethyl ether (Dowanol).
To be used as a spot-on only. Open the sachet and remove the pipette. For easier application, the animal should be kept standing. With one hand, hold the pipette vertically, away from the face, and break the upper end of the pipette to open it, bending it and folding it back on itself. Part the hair until the skin is visible and place the tip of the pipette directly on the dog's skin, applying the product according to the following instructions:
The interval between one treatment and the next will depend on the severity of the infestation and the parasite. Regular use of Exspot, at monthly intervals, eliminates ticks, sandflies, mosquitoes, flies, fleas, and lice and provides protection for up to 4 weeks against reinfestation. The use of non-medicated shampoos before applying Exspot does not negatively affect the effectiveness of the product. If the dog is bathed or sponged, the protection period is reduced, depending on the amount of water that comes into contact with the skin. Exspot can be applied at intervals of no less than 2 weeks, without causing side effects or symptoms of intoxication. To reduce reinfestations, it is recommended to treat all dogs in the household and all pets living in the same environment with a suitable product. Adequate environmental treatment against adult fleas and their developing stages (immature forms) is also recommended.
Treated dogs should not enter water for 12 hours after treatment.
Do not use on puppies under 2 weeks of age. Do not use on cats. Avoid allowing cats to come into contact with recently treated dogs. Do not use on sick, convalescent animals or those with extensive skin lesions. Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients.
The active ingredient permethrin contained in the product can cause skin hypersensitivity phenomena such as itching, dermatitis, eczema, rashes, hair loss, and redness at the application site. These symptoms are often accompanied by hyperactivity in treated animals. In very rare cases, dogs may exhibit hypersalivation, gastrointestinal symptoms (decreased appetite, anorexia, diarrhea, vomiting), neurological symptoms (lethargy, incoordination, muscle tremors, disorientation, hyperesthesia, paresis, ataxia), and behavioral changes (restlessness, urinary incontinence, aggression). In such cases, it is advisable to thoroughly wash the animal (bath) and consult a veterinarian for appropriate treatment. The excipient contained in the product generally has good local tolerability and only in exceptional cases can it induce skin hypersensitivity.
Do not use on lactating bitches. Use on pregnant bitches only according to the risk/benefit assessment.
