Tablets for the control of roundworms and for infections with ascarids, whipworms and tapeworms.
Indications
Drontal Multi are anthelmintic tablets indicated for the treatment of mixed infections with roundworms (ascarids, hookworms, whipworms), etines (including Echinococcus spp.), ascarids (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina), hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala), whipworms (Trichuris vulpis) and tapes (flatworms: Dipylidium caninum, Mesocestoides spp., Taenia ovis, T. pisiformis, T. hydatigena, T. multiceps, Echinococcus granulosus). The dog, carrier of the echinococcus tapeworm, becomes infected through sheep, cattle or pigs and can also transmit echinococcosis (hydatidosis, cystic form) to humans, a serious social disease in regions with sheep farming. Therapeutic and/or prophylactic treatment with this medicine interrupts the parasite's biological cycle and prevents transmission to humans.

Corn starch, lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, polyvinylpyrrolidone (povidone), magnesium stearate, sodium lauryl sulfate, colloidal anhydrous silica, irradiated artificial meat flavor.
Directions for use and Dosage
The recommended dose is 15 mg of febantel, 14.4 mg of pyrantel embonate and 5 mg of praziquantel/kg of body weight. This corresponds to 1 tablet per 35 kg of body weight. To ensure correct administration, body weight must be determined as accurately as possible. The 3 components: febantel, pyrantel, and praziquantel are optimally dosed in the tablets, so a single administration of 1 tablet per 35 kg of body weight (half a tablet per 17.5 kg of live weight) simultaneously frees the dog from all roundworms and tapeworms.
The tablet should be administered directly into the dog's mouth or wrapped in meat, or crushed into food. No special dietary measures are required: neither fasting nor purgatives. A single administration is sufficient for complete deworming of dogs. For the control of Toxacara, lactating bitches should receive treatment after the second week after giving birth and every 2 weeks until weaning. For periodic checks, adult dogs can be treated every 3 months. In case of heavy infestation, treatment should be repeated every 14 days.
Warnings
Treatment should be based on the results of the fecal parasitological examination. Parasite resistance to any particular class of anthelmintics may develop after frequent and repeated use of an anthelmintic of that stage. Roundworm and hookworm infestation: In some patients, Ancylostoma caninum and Toxocara canis parasites may not be completely eliminated by treatment, resulting in a continued risk of egg shedding in the environment. Fecal monitoring is recommended, and based on the results of these tests, treatment with a nematicidal product may be necessary. In debilitated or severely infested animals, the product should only be used after a risk/benefit assessment by the responsible veterinarian. Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the product. Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the product to animals: People with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredients contained in this medicine should administer the product with caution. Wash hands after use. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not eat, drink, or smoke while using the product. Overdose: A dose of the product equal to 10 times the recommended dose has been tolerated by dogs and puppies without signs of harm.
