Product Description

Antiparasitic for the treatment of mixed infestations in cats.

Indications

Drontal acts as a parasitic for the treatment of mixed infestations in cats by nematodes and cestodes, caused by:

• Roundworms: Toxocara cati (syn. mystax);
• Toxascaris leonin;
• Hookworms: Ancylostoma tubaeforme, Ancylostoma braziliense;
• Tapes: Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis, Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp., mesocestoides spp., Joyeuxiella spp.

Active ingredients

Praziquantel 20 mg, pyrantel embonate 230 mg.

Excipients

Maize starch, microcrystalline cellulose, polyvidone, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, polyethylene glycol 4000, titanium dioxide.

Directions for use and Dosage

The dose is 5 mg of praziquantel and 57.5 mg of pyrantelembonate per kg of body weight. This corresponds to 1 tablet for every 4 kg of body weight. The tablet can be divided as needed. To be administered orally to cats. The tablets are administered directly or by wrapping them in a piece of meat or sausage, or by chopping them into small pieces with the feed. No dietary measures are necessary. It is used as a single solution.

Warnings

To achieve effective parasite control, treatment should be based on the results of the parasitological examination. To ensure correct dosage, animals should be weighed, since tapeworm infestation in cats does not appear before the third week of life. Parasite resistance to a particular class of anthelmintics may develop following frequent, repeated use of an anthelmintic of the same class. Echinococcosis represents a danger to humans. In case of echinococcosis, specific guidelines for treatment and follow-up and for the protection of people must be followed. Consult an expert or a parasitology institute. Do not use in severely debilitated animals or with severely impaired liver or kidney function.

In case of eye irritation, seek medical advice. Do not eat, drink, or smoke while using the product. Overdose

Symptoms of overdose do not occur with doses up to 5 times the recommended dose. The first expected symptom of intoxication is vomiting.
