Its advanced formula is based on a synergy of three powerful active ingredients, each with a targeted action:
- Praziquantel: effective against tapeworms and other cestodes.
- Pyrantel: targeted against hookworms and ascarids.
- Febantel: specifically for fighting whipworms.
This combination makes it particularly suitable for a broad spectrum of parasites, including:
- Ascarids: Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina (adult and advanced immature forms).
- Ancylostomi: Uncinaria stenocephala and Ancylostoma caninum (adults).
- Whipworms: Trichuris vulpis (adults).
- Tapeworms: Echinococcus spp, Taenia spp and Dipylidium caninum (adult and immature forms).
Each tablet contains 50 mg praziquantel, 50 mg pyrantel (equivalent to 144 mg pyrantel embonate) and 150 mg febantel, supported by excipients such as lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica, croscarmellose sodium, sodium lauryl sulfate and an appetizing pork flavor.
It is essential not to administer the product simultaneously with piperazine compounds and to avoid its use in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substances or excipients. The withdrawal period is not relevant for this veterinary medicinal product.
Directions for use
To ensure the efficacy and safety of Canitel Plus, it is essential to carefully follow the administration and storage instructions.
The pork-flavored tablets are highly palatable and can be administered directly orally. In case of refusal, it is recommended to mix them with the dog's favorite food.
The dosage must be accurate and based on the dog's body weight:
- From 0.5 to 2 kg: 1/4 tablet
- From 3 to 5 kg: 1/2 tablet
- From 6 to 10 kg: 1 tablet
- From 11 to 15 kg: 1 + 1/2 tablet
- From 16 to 20 kg: 2 tablets
- From 21 to 25 kg: 2 + 1/2 tablets
- From 26 to 30 kg: 3 tablets
- From 31 to 35 kg: 3 + 1/2 tablets
- From 36 to 40 kg: 4 tablets
- From 41 kg and above: 1 tablet for every 10 kg weight
For optimal storage, do not administer the medicine after the expiry date. No special storage conditions are required, but it is essential to keep the product out of the sight and reach of children. Divided and unused tablets must be disposed of immediately.
It is crucial to determine the dog's body weight as accurately as possible to ensure the correct dosage.
In rare cases, gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea or vomiting may occur. If serious or unmentioned adverse reactions are observed, please consult your veterinarian.
Use during pregnancy must be evaluated by your veterinarian, taking into account the risk/benefit ratio. Use is not recommended during the first 4 weeks of pregnancy, and it is recommended not to exceed the recommended dose for pregnant dogs.
