Ataxxa is Indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis), eliminating them within one day and preventing new infestations for four weeks. It is also a valuable ally in the treatment strategy for flea allergy dermatitis (FAD). It also offers persistent acaricidal efficacy against ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Ixodes ricinus for four weeks, Dermacentor reticulatus for three weeks).
It is essential not to use the product on puppies under 7 weeks of age or weighing less than 1.5 kg, nor in cases of hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or excipients. It is absolutely contraindicated for cats, for which it is recommended to use it with caution. Extremely toxic.
For optimal storage, keep the medicine in the original packaging, away from moisture and light.
Although the product is effective even if the animal gets wet, it is recommended to avoid intense and prolonged exposure to water to avoid reducing its effectiveness. In rare cases, itching, hair loss, or erythema may occur at the application site; these symptoms are generally transient. No interactions with other medicines are known.
Safety during pregnancy and lactation has not been established; use in these cases should be carefully evaluated by your veterinarian based on the risk-benefit ratio.
Directions for use
Ataxxa is intended for spot-on use only and should be applied only to intact skin. The minimum recommended dose is 100 mg. The recommended dosage is 10 mg/kg of imidacloprid and 50 mg/kg of permethrin, administered topically based on the dog's body weight.
To ensure correct dosing, it is essential to accurately determine the animal's weight. For dogs weighing more than 40 kg, use the appropriate combination of pipettes. To reduce the risk of reinfestation, it is recommended to treat all dogs in the household and consider additional environmental treatment.
The interval between two treatments should be 4 weeks. Frequent or prolonged exposure to water may reduce efficacy; in such cases, do not repeat treatment more than once a week. If bathing is necessary, do so before applying the product or at least 2 weeks afterward.
Application instructions:
- Remove the pipette from the package and hold it upright.
- Tap the narrow end to release the contents, then unscrew and remove the cap.
- Turn the cap upside down, replace it on the pipette, and twist to break the seal, then remove it.
- For dogs up to 10 kg: With the dog standing still, part the hair between the shoulder blades until the skin is exposed. Place the tip of the pipette on the skin and press several times to empty the contents directly.
- For dogs over 10 kg: With the dog standing still, apply the entire contents of the pipette evenly in four spots along the back, from the shoulders to the base of the tail. At each spot, part the hair and press lightly to expel some of the solution. Avoid applying excessive amounts. Excessive amounts of product should be avoided in a single area to prevent dripping.
It is crucial to avoid contact of the product with the dog's eyes or mouth and to ensure that the animal does not lick the application site. After treatment, keep treated dogs away from cats until the application site is dry, as the product is extremely toxic to felines. Treated dogs should not be handled, especially by children, until the area is completely dry; it is recommended to treat dogs in the evening. Do not allow recently treated dogs to sleep with their owners, especially children. Used pipettes should be disposed of immediately. The solvent may stain some materials; allow the application site to dry before contact. Do not allow treated dogs to swim in surface water for at least 48 hours after treatment, as the product is toxic to cats. Dangerous for aquatic organisms.
