Composition

Active ingredients

Each film-coated tablet contains: pyrantel embonate 230 mg (equivalent to 80 mg of pyrantel), praziquantel 20 mg.

Excipients

Maize starch, povidone K25, microcrystalline cellulose (E460), colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate (E572), hypromellose, Macrogol 4000, titanium dioxide (E171).

Directions for use and Dosage

5 mg of praziquantel and 20 mg pyrantel (57.5 mg pyrantel embonate) per kg of body weight. This corresponds to 1 tablet per 4 kg of body weight.

Kittens weighing less than 1 kg should not be treated with the medicine, as correct dosing for such cats is not feasible. Route of administration: Oral use. The tablets should not be given directly into the mouth, but can be administered with a small amount of food, if necessary. Duration of therapy: Single treatment. Notes: In roundworm infestations, especially in kittens, complete elimination cannot be expected, therefore a risk of infection for humans may persist. Repeated treatments should therefore be carried out with a suitable product against roundworms at 14-day intervals until 2-3 weeks after weaning.

Warnings

Tapeworm infestation occurs in cats at least in the third week of life. Fleas act as intermediate hosts for a common type of tapeworm, Dipylidium caninum. Tapeworm infestation is very likely to recur unless control of intermediate hosts, such as fleas, mice, etc., is undertaken. Care should be taken to avoid the following practices because they increase the risk of development of resistance and could lead to ineffective therapy: frequent and repeated use of anthelmintics belonging to the same class, over an extended period of time; underdosing, this can lead to serious complications. This may be due to underestimation of body weight or incorrect administration of the product.

Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals: In case of accidental ingestion, seek medical advice and show the package leaflet to the doctor. In compliance with hygiene rules, anyone administering the tablet directly to the cat or adding it to the cat's food must wash their hands. Other precautions Echinococcosis represents a risk for humans.

Contraindications

Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.

Interactions with other medicinal products

Do not use in conjunction with piperazine since the specific activity of piperazine (neuromuscular paralysis of parasites) may interfere with the development of echinococcosis. inhibit the effectiveness of pyrantel (spastic paralysis of parasites).

Side effects

In extremely rare cases, mild and transient digestive tract disorders, such as hypersalivation and/or vomiting, and mild and transient neurological disorders, such as ataxia, may occur.
