Indications

Elanco AdTab is a tasty, chewable, meat-flavored tablet for dogs that eliminates fleas and ticks for a whole month.

Details

• It acts quickly, eliminating existing and new flea and tick infestations;
• It eliminates fleas present on the dog within 6 hours and ticks present on the dog within 8 hours;
• It eliminates fleas before they can lay eggs and prevents flea contamination of the home in areas where the animal has access.

Composition

Active ingredients

Each chewable tablet contains:

For dogs (>5.5–11 kg): lotilaner 225 mg

Directions for use and Dosage

For oral use. The veterinary medicinal product should be administered according to the following table to ensure a lotilaner dose of 20 to 43 mg/kg body weight.

For dogs weighing more than 45 kg, use an appropriate combination of available strengths to achieve the recommended dose of 20-43 mg/kg. Underdosing may result in ineffective use and may promote the development of resistance. To ensure correct dosing, determine body weight as accurately as possible.

Warnings

Special precautions for safe use in the target species: Parasites must initiate feeding on the host to be exposed to lotilaner; therefore, the risk of transmission of parasite-borne diseases cannot be completely excluded. The possibility that other animals in the same household may be a source of flea reinfection should be considered and these should be treated if necessary with an appropriate product. Fleas, at any stage of their development, can infest the dog's litter tray and normal resting areas such as carpets and soft furnishings. In the event of a heavy flea infestation, and at the start of control measures, these areas should be treated with a suitable environmental product and then cleaned regularly. All efficacy and safety data have been acquired from dogs and puppies aged 8 weeks or older and weighing 1.3 kg or more. In the absence of available data, a veterinarian should be consulted before treatment in puppies aged less than 8 weeks or weighing less than 1.3 kg.

Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals: Wash hands after handling the product. In case of accidental ingestion, seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet or the label.

Contraindications

Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.

Interaction with other veterinary medicinal products and other forms of interaction

None known. During clinical field studies, no interactions between lotilaner and commonly used veterinary medicinal products were observed.

Overdose

No adverse reactions were observed after oral administration to puppies aged 8 to 9 weeks with a body weight of 1.3-3.6 kg, treated with overdoses of up to 5 times the maximum recommended dose (43 mg, 129 mg and 215 mg of lotilaner/kg body weight) on eight occasions at monthly intervals.

Pregnancy and lactation

Laboratory studies in rats have not shown any teratogenic effects. The safety of the veterinary medicinal product during pregnancy or lactation has not been established. Consult a veterinarian before use during pregnancy and lactation.

Fertility

Laboratory studies in rats have not shown any adverse effects on the reproductive capacity of males and females. The safety of the medicine in breeding dogs has not been established. Consult a veterinarian before treatment in breeding dogs.

Storage

Keep out of the sight and reach of children. This veterinary medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions. Do not use this veterinary medicinal product after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and blister after Exp. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
