For optimal parasite control, it is recommended to base treatment on the results of a parasitological examination of the feces. It is crucial, especially in environments such as kennels or breeding farms, to proceed with disinfestation of the premises and chemical denaturation of the feces to prevent reinfestations and interrupt the parasitic cycle. No special precautions are required for the animal or for the person administering the product. Excessive doses may cause vomiting, but only well above the recommended therapeutic doses.
Ideal for dogs and cats, the waiting time is not relevant and there are no known interactions with other drugs. No known side effects have been reported.
To preserve its integrity and effectiveness, it is recommended to store the product in a dry place, at room temperature and away from light, in its tightly closed original container. Directions for use
Lendue is formulated for oral administration, ensuring practicality and ease of use.
The dosage is simple and adaptable: administer one tablet for every 8 kg of the animal's body weight per day (equivalent to 30 mg/kg b.w./day of mebendazole).
Treatment varies according to the type of infestation:
- For single or mixed infestations by Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma braziliense, Uncinaria stenocephala, Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Toxocara cati, Trichuris vulpis, Strongyloides stercoralis, Taenia spp.: administer for two consecutive days.
- For infestations by blood-sucking worms only (Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma braziliense, Uncinaria stenocephala): administer for one day only.
The tablet is easily divisible into four parts, each suitable for treating 2 kg of weight. It is recommended to always round the animal's weight up to the next whole number. The tablets are chewable and palatable, often consumed spontaneously. Otherwise, they can be crumbled and mixed with a small amount of palatable food or hidden among the kibble.
For complete elimination, including that of larval forms, it is essential to repeat the complete treatment: after 60 days for roundworm infestations and after 18 days for hookworm infestations, starting from the end of the first cycle.
Fasting is not required, but it is recommended to administer small, light meals, preferably on an empty stomach, starting from the day before and during treatment. Parasite elimination begins with the first administration, with eggs disappearing within 10-15 days of the last dose. Stool examination should be performed after this period. Although excessive doses do not cause serious symptoms other than very high levels of vomiting, it is essential to adhere to the recommended dosage.
During pregnancy, it is recommended not to administer Lendue during the first fifteen days. For the remaining 45 days of pregnancy and during breastfeeding, administration should only occur after a careful risk/benefit assessment by the responsible veterinarian, given the lack of specific studies on the target species.
