COMPOSITION

20 g (= 19.5 ml) of solution contain

Active ingredient: liquid extract of the roots of Pelargonium sidoides (1 : 8 - 10) 16 g

corresponding to 0.26 g of dried liquid extract. The extracting agent is 12% (v/v) ethanol.

PHARMACEUTICAL FORM

Oral drops, solution.

KALOBA is a light brown to reddish-brown solution.

Therapeutic indications

Traditional herbal medicine indicated for the alleviation of the common cold. The use of this traditional herbal medicine, for the indicated therapeutic indications, is based exclusively on many years of experience.

Dosage

30 drops of solution correspond to approximately 1.5 ml of solution.

Adults and adolescents (12-18 years)

30 drops (corresponding to approximately 20 mg of dried liquid pelargonium extract) 3 times a day (in the morning, at noon and in the evening).

Paediatric population

Kaloba should not be administered to children under 12 years of age due to the lack of data on safety and efficacy.

Duration of treatment

The maximum duration of treatment is 7 days.

Method of administration

The drops can be taken directly with a spoon or diluted in a little water. of liquid.

Contraindications

- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.

- Tendency to bleed.

- Taking drugs that inhibit coagulation.

- Severe liver and kidney disease, as there is not sufficient experience in these.

- Pregnancy or breastfeeding.

- Children under 12 years of age.

Warnings

Cases of hepatotoxicity and hepatitis have been reported in association with the administration of the medicinal product. In the presence of signs of hepatotoxicity, administration of the medicinal product must be stopped immediately and a doctor must be consulted.

Treatment must also be stopped in case of tachypnea or haemoptysis.

Important information about some of the excipients of Kaloba

This medicinal product contains 12% (v/v) ethanol (alcohol), which corresponds to 180 mg of alcohol per single dose (30 drops), equivalent to 3.6 ml of beer or 1.5 ml of wine. This may be harmful for alcoholics and should be taken into consideration in adolescents and high-risk groups such as people with liver disease or epilepsy.

Avoid concomitant use of other products containing alcohol.
