Ointment

Composition:

100 g of ointment contain Active ingredients: Sulfur for external use 17 g Potassium carbonate 8 g For the full list of excipients, see section 6.1.

Excipients

White petrolatum.

Therapeutic indications

Treatment of fungal skin infections, psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis and parasitic skin conditions (scabies).

Contraindications

– Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or to any of the excipients; – extensive skin lesions; – children under 3 years of age.

Dosage

Adults and adolescents, children over 3 years of age. Apply the ointment, in the amount necessary for the area to be treated, 2–3 times a day. To treat scabies, after applying the ointment, it is necessary to vigorously rub the area to be treated; furthermore, the ointment must be left in contact with the skin for at least 24 hours without washing. Treatment must continue for at least 3 consecutive days.

Warnings and precautions

External use. Avoid contact with the mouth, eyes, genitals and other mucous membranes. The use, especially if prolonged, of topical medicines can give rise to irritation or sensitization phenomena. In this case, it is necessary to discontinue treatment and initiate appropriate therapy. Important information about some excipients: none in particular.

Undesirable effects

The following are the undesirable effects of Sulfur and Potassium carbonate, organized according to the MedDRA system organ classification. There are insufficient data to establish the frequency of the individual effects listed. Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: Irritation of the skin and mucous membranes, desquamation, dermatitis, burning, itching, erythema.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

In the absence of specific studies, the medicine should be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding only if necessary and under direct medical supervision.
