The medicine is indicated for adults and for oral use.
Ingredients and composition
Zerinolflu contains:
- Active ingredients: paracetamol 300 mg, chlorphenamine maleate 2 mg equivalent to chlorphenamine 1.41 mg, sodium ascorbate 280 mg corresponding to vitamin C 250 mg.
- Excipients: anhydrous citric acid, sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, sorbitol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, dimethicone, aspartame, orange flavoring, lemon flavoring.
Zerinolflu Dosage
Zerinolflu is a medicine for adults. The recommended dose is one tablet twice a day, to be taken on a full stomach. The effervescent tablets should be dissolved in about half a glass of water.
Warnings
If the fever persists for more than three days or if the symptoms are accompanied by high fever, rash, excessive mucus and persistent cough, consult your doctor before continuing administration. During treatment, make sure that no other medicine containing paracetamol is taken at the same time, as it may cause serious side effects. If paracetamol is taken in high doses, serious adverse reactions may occur.
High doses of paracetamol can cause high-risk liver disease and even serious kidney and blood disorders. In case of acute hypersensitivity reactions to paracetamol (e.g. anaphylactic shock), treatment must be stopped and the necessary medical measures must be implemented based on the signs and symptoms.
At common therapeutic doses of chlorphenamine maleate, antihistamines present side reactions that vary greatly from person to person. The most frequent side effect is sedation, which can manifest itself as drowsiness; this is due to the presence of sedation in the blood. Those who may drive motor vehicles or perform operations requiring complete vigilance must be warned.
Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) should be used with caution by subjects who suffer, or have suffered in the past, from nephrolithiasis (kidney stones) and by those affected by G6PD (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase) deficiency, hemochromatosis, thalassemia, or sideroblastic anemia.
Administer with caution to subjects with renal or hepatic insufficiency and to the elderly. Elderly patients are particularly sensitive to the anticholinergic side effects of antihistamines, such as dry mouth and urinary retention (especially in men). The effervescent tablets contain aspartame and a source of phenylalanine. It may be harmful if you have phenylketonuria (lack of the enzyme phenylalanine hydroxylase). Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance should not take this medicine. One effervescent tablet contains 14.83 mmol sodium. To be taken into consideration by patients with reduced renal function or on a controlled sodium diet.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substances, to any of the excipients or other substances closely related from a chemical point of view; in particular to antihistamines of a similar chemical structure to chlorphenamine. The product is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Paracetamol-based products are contraindicated in patients with manifest glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency and in those with severe haemolytic anaemia. Severe hepatocellular insufficiency. Due to its anticholinergic effects, it should not be used in cases of glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, bladder neck obstruction, pyloric and duodenal stenosis or stenosis of other parts of the gastrointestinal and urogenital systems.
