Product Description

Vagilen Vaginal Ovules 500mg is used in the treatment of symptomatic trichomoniasis in men and women.

Dosage and Directions for Use

Vagilen Vaginal Ovules should be taken in the following doses and manner: 1 or 2 ovules in situ, per day. For mixed treatment: 1 ovule for local use and 2 capsules for oral use as directed by a doctor. In any case, the total dose should not exceed 2 g, to be administered in single concentrated doses. Topical use can be be used as a complementary treatment and is effective in preventing relapses.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparations and in particular to metronidazole.

• Contraindicated in women who are pregnant or suspected to be pregnant.

Special warnings

The use of the product should be limited to cases of symptomatic trichomoniasis. The appearance of neurological signs requires the suspension of oral treatment. To be used under strict medical supervision. Preventive oncological monitoring for lymphomas, pneumopathies, or mastopathies is prudent, as alterations have been observed in laboratory rodents undergoing experimental treatment with metronidazole.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Since metronidazole crosses the placental barrier and enters the fetus' circulation, and since its effects on it are not definitively known, the use of Vagilen is contraindicated in women who are pregnant or suspected to be pregnant.
