Indications

Tilavist is used for the prophylaxis of allergic eye diseases.

Ingredients and Composition

Tilavist Eye Drops contain:
Active ingredient: Nedocromil sodium 100 mg
Excipients: benzalkonium chloride; disodium edetate; sodium chloride; purified water.

Dosage and Directions for Use

One drop of Tilavist in each eye 2-4 times a day. Treatment should not exceed 8 weeks.

Warnings

Concomitant use of soft contact lenses is not recommended. The benzalkonium chloride present in the formulation may accumulate in contact lenses. This preservative is then slowly released and can cause corneal irritation.

Patients who wear rigid or gas-permeable contact lenses during therapy with the drug must remove them before instilling the drops.
To allow homogeneous distribution of the solution in the conjunctiva, lenses should be reinserted only 10 minutes after instillation.

After administration of Tilavist eye drops to patients suffering from seasonal allergic conjunctivitis, symptomatic relief occurs rapidly.
In most patients, the therapeutic effect is evident within one hour of administration. Efficacy and safety in children under 6 years of age and in the elderly have not been established. Once opened, avoid external contamination of the contents. Use within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Animal studies, pregnancy, and breastfeeding have not revealed harmful effects of nedocromil. However, as with all medications, caution is advised during pregnancy (particularly in the first trimester) and breastfeeding.
Based on animal studies and the chemical and physical characteristics of nedocromil, it is believed that only minimal amounts pass into human breast milk.
There are no data to suggest that the use of nedocromil by breastfeeding women may have adverse effects on the infant.
