Product Description

Solumag is an oral solution of Magnesium Pidolate.

Indications

In neurology and pediatrics: clinical pictures expressing a state of hyperexcitability of the central and peripheral nervous system, supported by a magnesium deficiency.

In obstetrics: vomiting, insomnia, irritability, muscle cramps, painful contractions of the uterus, eclampsia.

Composition

Active ingredients

A 10 ml vial contains: active ingredient: magnesium pidolate 1.5 g. For the full list of excipients, see section 6.1.

Excipients

For each vial: sucrose; orange juice; mandarin flavoring; sodium saccharin; sodium methyl p-hydroxybenzoate; sodium propyl p-hydroxybenzoate; purified water.

Directions for use and Dosage

Determine the dosage. As a guide, the average dosage is as follows:

• In adults: 2 - 3 vials for oral use per day;
• In children: 2 vials for oral use per day;
• Early childhood: half - 1 vial for oral use per day.

Due to the high orange juice content, it is advisable to shake the bottle before use.

Warnings

If symptoms persist or worsen, contact your doctor. In patients with renal insufficiency, it is necessary to reduce the dosage and monitor renal function and magnesium levels. It is advisable to consider the possibility of cardiovascular and respiratory depression during treatment. The drug contains sucrose and parahydroxybenzoates, which can cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).

Contraindications

Severe renal insufficiency; hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients; do not administer to patients undergoing digitalis therapy.

Side effects

Rare digestive disorders; diarrhea; abdominal pain. Exceptional cases of individual intolerance to the ion have been reported, which can be treated with oral or parenteral antihistamines.

Overdose

Cases of hypermagnesemia have been reported following massive administration of magnesium or during treatment of patients with severe renal insufficiency. The symptoms observed were: cardiac rhythm disturbances, respiratory depression, and neuromuscular transmission disorders. Treatment involves rehydration with restoration of abundant diuresis or forced diuresis. In cases of renal failure, dialysis treatment is recommended.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

It is advisable that during pregnancy and breastfeeding, the drug be taken under medical supervision and only in cases of actual need.
