Water-based dressing for topical use containing Silver Sulfadiazine. The gel with a high water content (over 95%) keeps the wound hydrated, promoting the tissue repair process, and creates a barrier to external agents, protecting the damaged skin thanks to the presence of silver. It also promotes debridement in necrotic lesions.
The presence of Silver Sulfadiazine, an organometallic compound obtained by reacting silver nitrate with Sulfadiazine, prevents microbial contamination of the dressing and keeps the wound environment free from other exogenous bacteria. The particular formulation creates an environment that facilitates the natural healing process and provides an effective barrier to microbial penetration. The product remains easily "in situ" and is not affected by stretching of the wound edges. It can be used as a dressing. It can be easily removed by cleaning the lesion with saline solution.
Directions for use
After properly cleansing the lesion, apply a uniform layer of gel 2 or 3 mm thick to the affected surfaces. The gel can be applied either directly to the lesions or previously spread on a sterile gauze to obtain a hydrating effect or on a polyurethane or semi-occlusive dressing as a cleanser. SOFARGEN GEL is also a valid substitute for the more commonly used hydrogels.
The application of the gel should continue without interruption once or twice a day, as long as there is no risk of infection and until complete healing, both in spontaneous and surgical repairs. At each reapplication, thoroughly cleanse the lesions with water or saline solution.
